2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI Earns Top Safety Pick Award

It was recently announced that the 2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI have been awarded the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety 2014 Top Safety Pick. Both the 2015 WRX and WRX STI gave an outstanding performance in the crashworthiness evaluations. The 2015 WRX and WRX STI will be arriving at Maxwell Subaru in Burlington, NC in the near future.

Subaru has more 2014 IIHS Top Safety picks than any brand. Six other Subaru models have earned the 2014 safety awards as including the Legacy and outback.

2015 Volvo S60 T6 Drive-E at Maxwell Volvo: Supercharged and Turbocharged

Back with a new engine for 2015, the 2015 Volvo S60 T6 Drive-E at Maxwell Volvo in Burlington, NC is supercharged and turbocharged! 

The 2015 Volvo S60 T6 Drive-E has a supercharged and turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4 paired with an eight-speed automatic.  The new engine produces 302 hp and 295 Ib-ft of torque. The 2015 Volvo S60 also features direct injection, integrated start/stop and an Eco mode. Estimated fuel economy is 24/35 mpg city/highway.

Performance figures are impressive doing 0-60 in just 5.4 seconds. Even with a supercharger and turbo engine the changeover is relatively smooth.

The 2015 Volvo S60 T6 Drive-E has a five-star crash rating from the NHTSA with lane-departure warning, lane markers, distance alert and driver alert control.

The new Volvo S60 has a plethora of options to choose from including BOR diamond-cut 19-inch alloy wheels, HID headlights, and heated seats. With the Platinum trim, navigation, Volvo Premier sound system, auto dimming interior, HomeLink garage door opener, and rearview camera are all added.

Hybrid Model of Every US Volvo?

It has been speculated that every Volvo sold in the US including the XC90, S60 and V60 could see a hybrid version in the future. This means Maxwell Volvo of Burlington, NC may have these vehicles with a plug-in hybrid powertrain very soon!

A new modular platform that Volvo has been working on since 2011 will be used for the new plug-in hybrids. The XC90 is the first of the Volvo vehicles to be launched in the US with a PHEV powertrain. We should expect to see this in the first quarter of 2015.

There is still information that is unknown such as the electric range, price or what the updated look will be but we can assure you that Maxwell Volvo in Burlington, NC will let you know when we hear more!

The Big Debut of the 2015 Subaru Outback

The 2015 Subaru Outback made its debut at the New York Auto Show recently. The 2015 Subaru Outback comes in two styles, the 2.5i and 3.6R, both coming to Maxwell Subaru in North Carolina.

Buyers can opt for either the 175-horsepower 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder boxer engine, or a 256-horsepower 3.6-liter boxer 6 engine. Both will be paired with a C.V.T. and six gear ratios plus steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

Built bigger and better, the new Outback has an additional 2.7 cubic-feet of cargo space.  Subaru’s venerated asymmetrical all-wheel-drive system is standard. Also new for the 2015 model is Active Torque Vectoring and off-road oriented ‘X-Mode’. This new addition engages automatic hill climb and hill descent when taking on a steep incline.

Subaru takes it to the Track with the 2015 WRX STI

Racer Mark Higgins will be returning to the Isle of Man TT Races with the new 2015 Subaru WRX STI. Higgins will attempt to beat his own fastest car lap time that was achieved two years ago in the 2011 Subaru WRX STI.

For the race this year the 2015 Subaru WRX STI will have a roll-cage, race harness, fire suppression system and modified springs and dampers to handle an approximate average speed of 115.36 miles per hour.

A Mechanical Kinetic Energy Recovery System or KERS in the new Volvo S60 T5

What exactly is KERS? KERS, or a mechanical kinetic energy recovery system, recovers a vehicle’s kinetic energy under braking. KERS is smaller and lighter than a petrol-electric hybrid system and results in similar fuel percentages as a hybrid. Maxwell Volvo has jumped on the KERS bandwagon with the prototype F1-style KERS-equipped S60 T5.

The KERS system works by capturing the lost kinetic energy from braking and sending it to a flywheel. The flywheel can capture 150 watt hours in around eight seconds. You could charge 25 new iPhones with that kind of energy!

When hitting the KERS button in the Volvo S60 T5 you will definitely get a burst of speed doing 0-60mph in about 6.07 seconds. Without KERS switched on 0-60mph is achieved in about 7.68 seconds.

The KERS system is able to produce a huge amount of thrust all from a small box of gears and clutches that weighs only 60kg. The system requires no maintenance and will last you the realistic life of your car.

The New 2015 Subaru Outback has Been Spotted

The new 2015 Subaru Outback, making its way to Maxwell Subaru in North Carolina, has been spotted in Europe! The first spy shots show a similar combined wagon/CUV look we are used to with the current Outback yet it is difficult to tell what redesigned elements have been put in place.

The spy shots do reveal similar door-mounted mirrors, creased hood and angular headlights as the new Legacy. You can also see that the windshield appears to be steeper and the rear taillights seem thinner.

Rumor has it that the new 2015 Subaru Outback will use the revised 2.5-liter four-cylinder paired with a 3.6-liter boxer six-cylinder. Other rumors indicate that a smaller six-cylinder and turbocharged four-cylinder will be used. I guess we will just have to wait and see!

The new 2015 Subaru Outback is set to make its debut at the New York Auto Show in April. Besides an exterior styling update, the 2015 Subaru Outback will feature liquid-filled engine mounts, an acoustic glass windshield, and increased sound deadening interior tech.

First Volvo Plug-In Hybrid, the 2015 Volvo XC90 Coming to Maxwell Volvo

The first Volvo plug-in hybrid SUV is coming to Maxwell Volvo! The 2015 Volvo XC90 Hybrid is expected to arrive sometime summer 2015.

The new 2015 Volvo XC90 Hybrid will feature the new Drive-E 2.0-liter direct-injected and turbocharged engine. The new Volvo engine is paired with an all-new eight-speed automatic transmission and a single electric motor. A second electric motor will be on the rear axle providing all-wheel drive.

The 2015 Volvo XC90 full-size crossover utility vehicle will be revealed later this year with more details.

Volvo XC90 Teams up with Apple at Maxwell Volvo

The Volvo XC90 SUV will be making its way to Maxwell Volvo in North Carolina later this year.  The Volvo XC90 will feature Apple’s new iPhone-based in-car technology called, Apple CarPlay.

Volvo is one of six automakers that will offer Apple’s CarPlay. Among these automakers include Ferrari, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo.

Apple’s CarPlay will bring features similar to the iPad, iPhone or iPod into the center console touch screen display of the Volvo XC90. The Apple features and services will be able to be accessed through voice and steering wheel controls.

Basic iPhone applications such as phone, messages, music and navigation will be just a few of the technologies offered with Apple’s CarPlay.  Additionally, popular music streaming services like Spotify will be easily accessible right in the center console!

No need to worry about switching between the Volvo automotive content screen and iPhone screen, with CarPlay both can be displayed simultaneously.

2015 Subaru Legacy Coming to Maxwell Subaru

Subaru is making big strides this year by releasing the plans for the 2015 Subaru Legacy. This luxury car will arrive in Chicago February of 2014 with more definite features and options than the teasers that everyone has been hearing about. 

It is very possible that the 2015 Subaru Legacy will feature a 170-hp 2.5-liter F-4 serving as the base engine and also a hybrid powertrain. While there is not much concrete information about this vehicle, the 2015 Subaru Legacy is sure to be another big hit for Subaru.

Subaru gets an Upgrade for 2015 Model- Maxwell Subaru

For the 2015 model year, Subaru is getting a major upgrade for its EyeSight assistance camera system. The 2015 Subaru coming to Maxwell Subaru in North Carolina will have an improved EyeSight assistance system making it a safer vehicle on the streets in North Carolina.

The updated EyeSight driver assistance camera system will reduce its size by 15% making it easier for the driver to see. The new system will offer approximately 40 percent longer and wider detection range and brake light detection.

Using two color cameras, the EyeSight will have quicker reaction time and function more smoothly. EyeSight will also offer adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and pre-collision breaking.

In addition to the EyeSight upgrades, the new Subaru will also have safety assist systems such as Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert system.
